I've been part of the Living Love Fellowship, a small spiritual community, for thirteen years now. I've grown a tremendous amount in that time. It has been most purifying and strengthening to go through the going through part with 11 friends, 24-7, and most enlightening to have a spiritual teacher and do spiritual practices.

On and off, over time, I became more dedicated to spiritual practice — forms of meditation, as well as dance as a spiritual practice, which I and some of the other women here have been doing. The dancing, in particular has been an amazing adventure in itself. By videotaping our dances and watching them afterward, we have seen so much about ourselves that we never would have seen otherwise, both good and not so good. This has led to incredible growth in all of us, and a shedding of a lot of self-consciousness and old habits that were not actually part of who we truly are. We have been able to find our True Selves through these dances. And miraculously, when I was able to get my ego enough out of the way in dancing, something extraordinary happened. The Goddess was able to come through me.

I've always had a good relationship with God, even when I had no idea about spirituality. But when the Goddess began to manifest palpably within my body, She gave me a whole new appreciation for how deeply intimate a relationship with God, or Goddess (in this case) could be. I got to feel how the Goddess felt about Her children. The depth and beauty of Her is so personal, and rich in meaning, I can only begin to try to describe Her. She fills a room with Her love. She sees only perfection in Her children, even when they are experiencing problems. She does not see us as problems in any way, yet She is aware of everything. She wants only to remind us of our own perfection, and in that, our ability to love. She's with us always. Her reverence and devotion is vast, like the ocean. She has really changed my ideas about things like devotion, for example, and respect. In feeling devotion truly through Her, she has shown me the power of devotion, and undone some wrong ideas I subconsciously had about it.

Besides all of this incredible cosmic experience, I also have a day job. Our community has a consulting business that, on the face of it, has nothing to do with “spirituality” at all. But actually, what doesn't have to do with spirituality? The business not only provides us with money that supports the community and our mission, it also gives us endless opportunity to learn how to love each other better in day-to-day life. We literally spend all of our time together. It's a wonderful challenge, and over time, we have come to love each other better. Let me tell you, it certainly didn't start out that way in this life. You don't just start loving your spiritual “siblings” right out of the gate, let alone your actual siblings! Not when all the people involved come from different backgrounds, and different beliefs, and whatnot, as we did.

We live a very well-rounded, and down to earth life with each other here at the Living Love Fellowship (LLF for short). I can actually say that I've found my home, which is rare in this world, these days.
